If your party is in a Jefferson Parish park, you cannot rent from whoever you like. The parish keeps a list — and it is short.

The JPRD rules, in full

These are parish rules, not ours. They apply to every vendor and every renter equally, and the park staff do enforce them.

• You must rent a shelter. Inflatable equipment is only permitted in a JPRD park in connection with a shelter rental. No shelter, no setup.
• You must arrange a generator. The parks do not supply electricity to shelters for this purpose. Every blower needs power and that power is your responsibility to bring.
• Dry units only. Water play equipment is prohibited in JPRD parks — no water slides, no dunk tanks, no wet combos. This is the rule that surprises people most in July.
• $1,000,000 per occurrence insurance, with JPRD named as certificate holder. We carry this and can issue the certificate — details here.
• Vendor receipt to JPRD one week before the event. Not the day of. Book early enough that this is not a scramble.
• Police detail required for events running after 7pm, or any event where alcohol is served.

Planning a park party — do it in this order

1. Book the shelter first. Everything else depends on the date and the shelter being confirmed. Popular shelters at Lafreniere go early.
2. Pick dry equipment. Bounce houses, obstacle courses, inflatable games, carnival games, combos. Save the water slide for a backyard party.
3. Sort the generator. Tell us what you are renting and we will tell you what the power draw is.
4. Request the certificate of insurance naming JPRD, and get us the vendor receipt requirement handled with a week to spare.
5. Check the time and alcohol question. After 7pm or serving alcohol means a police detail — budget for it.

Why the list exists

A parish that lets any vendor set up in its parks is a parish carrying risk it cannot see. The approved list is JPRD's way of making sure the companies operating on public land are insured, reachable and accountable. It is the same instinct behind operator certification and ASTM F2374 — someone has checked, in advance, rather than hoping.

Can I rent a water slide for a Jefferson Parish park?

No. JPRD prohibits water play equipment in its parks. Dry units only — bounce houses, obstacle courses, combos, inflatable games and carnival games. Water slides are available for private property.

Do I need to rent a shelter to have a bounce house in a JPRD park?

Yes. JPRD permits inflatable equipment only in connection with a shelter rental. Book the shelter before you book the equipment.

Does the park have electricity for the blower?

No. The renter is responsible for arranging a generator. Tell us what equipment you are renting and we will tell you the power requirement.

Yes. Bounce World is listed second of ten companies on the Jefferson Parish Recreation Department's approved vendor list for spacewalk and party play equipment.

When does JPRD need the vendor receipt?

One week before the event. Along with a certificate of insurance for $1,000,000 per occurrence naming JPRD as certificate holder.
